Panasonic GH2

The original pocket rocket has a special place in my filmmaking heart with the exception of some visual traits that have personally bugged me:

  1. The Green/Yellow Color Cast
  2. Unbalanced Contrast/Saturation Levels
  3. Lifeless Color Tonality

So I decided to create the BozGH2Pana_GT Film LUT with the aim of resolving the above.

The LUT has a subtle yet noticeable effect on your image by gently adjusting the GH2’s color hues, contrast/saturation levels, highlights and shadows to create a more pleasing image with uniformed color tonality. Some might even say for more “cinematic” results.

My goal was to create a single node LUT that would:

  • Remove Green/Yellow Color Cast
  • Balance Contrast and Saturation
  • Uniform Color Tonality
  • Preserve Skin Tones
  • Preserve Shadow Detail
  • Preserve Highlight Detail [Note: Highlight detail can never be recovered from hot/blown out whites with ANY LUT]
  • Soften & Roll Off Hot/Blown Out Whites

The BozGH2Pana_GT Film LUT does not degrade or destroy your image. In fact, the LUT seemingly reduces noise levels for a slightly cleaner image.

This is a one-off LUT that I created from the ground up specifically for the GH2. Why? Because like me, I know there are people out there who still use (or would love to get back into using) this soon to be forgotten gem of a camera for video.

It’s difficult to put a price on something that has taken me a long time to complete, but like my BozBMDFilm_to_Rec709 LUT I feel that this LUT is worth the small donation of £3.00GBP (approx $4.00 USD) that I’m asking for.

It’s cheaper than a Golden Arches Meal and something I’d personally have taken a leap of faith on. Made a difference to my videos as I’m sure it will with yours 🙂
