After the success of the original BozBMDFilm to Rec709 LUT for all Blackmagic Cinema Cameras, there were many requests from fellow filmmakers for a new Rec709 LUT for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K & 6K. I had no intentions of creating one, but as I’m always looking for ways to simplify my own work flow I thought, what the hell.
A brand new LUT created specifically for BM’s Gen. 4 Color Science. Features include a custom cine curve that preserves highlight/shadow detail* and organic color values with balanced saturation. Any filter, lighting, lens or camera color casts recorded at source will also be present. This also includes any exposure/white balance issues recorded at source.
To be clear: This is not a ‘Fix It’ LUT. This is a ‘Let Me See What’s Been Captured’ LUT!

- Custom Cine Curve
- Organic Color Values
- Balanced Saturation
- Preserved Shadow Detail
- Preserved Highlight Detail [Note: *Highlight detail can never be recovered from hot/blown out whites with ANY LUT. The information is just not there]
- Softer Highlight Roll Off
Use it as an input/viewing LUT to see what’s going on with your image, integrate it as part of your grade or just use it on it’s own. It’s entirely up to your own creative taste.

As a frugal filmmaker, I always like to get value for money. It’s difficult to put a price on something as valuable as time, but I feel that this LUT is worth the small donation of £3.00GBP (approx $3.80USD) that I’m asking for.
It’s cheaper than a Golden Arches Meal and something I’d personally have taken a leap of faith on if I was looking 🙂
